Aloe Vera with Rumi Quote

I paraphrased Rumi's quote as "we" rather than "you", but I think it is in the spirit of his expressions. The plant is an aloe vera. I have started aloe designs for my 2013 Desert Rat Calendar. This plant is brown in color rather than green. Aloe veras will be green in partial shade, but turn brown in full sun. With the magic of Photoshop, I could turn the plant green, but it would probably not look natural, so I have left it as is. I used the bottom image to create the background for the whole plant. It shows more detail of the flowers. ************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************ Note how the flowers start opening at the lower end of the clusters, and work their way up the stems. The hummingbirds are attracted to these flowers in the spring. We have many kinds of aloes in Tucson, but aloe vera is particularly plentiful. The fresh plant is the best way to get aloe for burns, and skin treatment. The active ingredients break down quickly.
