This posting can give you some idea of the ways that the images can be varied. The two images directly above stand alones as seperate prints but they could be hung side by side. Above that is a picture in which the two are combined with text added. Above that is a different combination of the same images with a different colored background.
The saying in the one picture is this:
When I am working on a problem, I never think about beauty. I think only about solving the problem. But when I am finished, if the solution is not beautiful then I know it is wrong.

This is an amazing thing to me. I started with the yellow carnations, and decided that I wanted pink ones as well. I didn't have to go out and find pink carnations. In Photoshop, I can turn the yellow flowers pink or whatever other color I choose. It is so easy to create several versions of the same design. That is why I can offer you customized products.
Small prints(8.5"x11") or cards.

I have several versions of this prayer as well. The original was composed by Jon Farle. When I first came to the board & care home 24 years ago, he suggested that I use the Serenity Prayer and added this one. The daily use of the two has helped me develope a more accepting attitude.
Another variation on this is to say: "All that I think, say and do."
The opening can be of your choice. It can be started with "O Lord", "O Great Spirit", "Dear Buddha" and so on.
Again you may specify font, colors and type of flower. I will be presenting other versions as we build this site.
Good as a print or card.

I offer several versions of the Serenity Prayer, and would be happy to do a custom version to your specifications. This is my original design.
I took the photo at about 8000' in the White Mountains of Arizona. It is a little below Hannigan Meadow along the New Mexico border. It is wild, beautiful country close to the continental divide. For me, it defines peace and serenity.
You can specify a different font, text color and so on.
Available as small prints or cards.

I completed this poem and illustration in 1991. I am a Scorpio and this is about living under that sign. The familiar symbol of the scorpion crawling around in the dirt is replaced by the more positive eagle soaring in the sky. I like to create images we can aspire to. I have spent enough time crawling around in the dirt, but strive now to spend more time in the air.
This may not seem to fit in with the mandala designs, but I intend for it to be one of twelve elements in a mandala that completes the zodiac. It is an idea I have had brewing for thirty years. I can't say when it will be finished. Don't hold your breath.
This can make a nice, bright print with the poem inclduded or you can think in terms of a birthday card for a Scorpio. I can take requests for other signs and it may spur me on to finish the sketches and poem fragments I have so far. No garauntee on a completion date.
From mystic lore of many lands,
Come tales about a golden bird
Which rises up from ashes gray.
A symbol true, forever heard.
Let us be reminded
Of the firebird within,
Promise of renewal
Growing out of what has been.
We soar to new heights now
On sure wings of victory.
Let us be inspired
To fly with confidence
Upon the shifting winds of
Life's beclouded turbulence.
Wide open skies of blue
Yield full possibility.
Climb high, reach far
O great bird aflame.
With passion purified,
Your need you overcame.
Heart and spirit unified,
You are free at last to serve.
Let us be encouraged
To view failure from above.
Turn ashes into gold
Through the alchemy of love.
Defeat is the first step to completed destiny.
Let us be delivered
Through the fire of the sun,
Reborn in truth ablaze.
Harmonize the two in one.
Stronger through the testing,
We fullfill the prophecy.
Climb high,reach far
O great bird aflame.
With courage purified,
Yourself you overcame.
Heart and spirit unified,
You are free atlast to serve.

Here is a change of pace from the cactus flowers. This spring, I was riding my bicycle through the University of Arizona campus near my home. I ran across a tree with these beautiful, large blooms. The flowers are so perfectly shaped and puffy that they almost look artificial. It took me a couple of months to identify the tree as a pink bottle tree from Australia. Still, I like the name I gave them pending identification.
The statement is a paraphrazing of one of Jon Farle's sayings.
Prints large & small, cards and bookmarks.

Barrel Cactus

We have a large barrel cactus in the yard. It ususlly produces a ring of blooms around the crown, but this year it only put out one flower. Ah, but what a flower it was.

As a demonstration, I show this picture with two background colors and two sayings. The saying I am officially pairing with this image is: Flowers are God's love offering.

This is good as a print up to 11"x17", cards or bookmarks. Box sets of notecards include 4 different designs. Each has at least one image of a Nightblooming flower. A box of 8 will have 2 of each design and a box of twelve will have three of each kind. Look for panels of 4 showing the contents of different box sets.

You may specify a custom set. Use the numbered order panels to reference the images and accompanying text. All cards are available with blank insides or text as shown.

Hedgehog Cactus

I am calling the image of the nightblooming cactus flower shown in the first posting "image one" or i1 for short. The accompanying poem is "text one" or t1. Today's posting will be i2 & t2 respectively. I will continue this system through out so that you can specify how you want to match image and text.
I am happy to fill custom orders. If you want a different colored background, I can do that. I can add texture or pattern as well. I like to combine the bright colors, but if you prefer a darker background to bring out the color of the blossom, that can be done.

"Flowers inspire us to our own growth

And urge us to our own blossoming."

Coyne 2008
The larger image on the left which I will call i2a is suited to a print or bookmark. The smaller images on the right which are designated as i2b are arranged for notecards.
I found these flowers near city hall here in Tucson. I had no idea what they were, but was struck by their vibrant colors.
Cactus flowers are some of the most beautiful blossoms to be found anywhere. Being from the East, I would not have expected it to be so.
Please enjoy!

Nightblooming Cactus

She opens secretly in the dark
And waits silently through the night
To show herself at dawn's first light.
During the bright morning hours,
She displays her delicate color
And glorious form of splendor.
By noon, she begins to close
And hide again her magnificence.
A short-lived call to reverence.

Nightblooming Cards

I have never made my living as an artist, but art has always been an important part of my life. I have worked in various media including acrylics, stained glass, and wood. Recently, I have been working with computer graphics and am amazed at the potential it offers.

I have also started with digital photography. A few years ago I was given an unimpressive little cactus. This spring, it bloomed for the first time and brought forth magnificent nightblooms which inspired me to take lots of photographs. That started me taking other pictures of flowers which has led to my creating cards with flower images.

I like to combine the photos with sayings or poems. Some are mine, others are ones that inspire me and through which I seek to inspire others. I am specializing in cactus flowers found in Tucson, Arizona but I will be branching out from there. I am open to taking requests for flowers not yet in the collection. You may also request a favorite saying or poem to be matched with a picture of your choice.

All the images can be ordered as blank cards. They can also be mixed and matched with most any image available with any text. The nightblooming poem is only appropriate with the nightblooming flowers, but I offer several images to match with it.

Cards can be odered in the small notecard size or the larger standard size. You may also order prints in various sizes as well as bookmarks of any image with or without text.
